"If I can't take my camera, I'm not going" is my mantra

and after a decade-plus of weddings across Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire and beyond, it's held up rather well.

Let's get one thing out of the way: I'm not going to tell you I'm "capturing authentic, unscripted moments"

mostly because every photographer's website says that, and by this point it means about as much as "may contain nuts."

What I actually do is turn up, blend in, and get out of your way. I'm not hiding in a hedge with a long lens

and I'm definitely not going to spend an hour arranging your extended family into a pyramid while your dinner goes cold.

I'm just there — laughing at the best man's terrible jokes, half a step behind your nan as she "organises" everyone,

ready when your other half pulls that face mid-vow that you'll want to see again when you're both eighty.

Picking a photographer is a bigger decision than people expect,

mostly because they're the one vendor who's with you the entire day, start to finish

through the nerves, the chaos, the crying, the dancing, all of it.

So it's worth picking someone who reads the room, keeps things calm,

and doesn't become one more thing you have to manage on your own wedding day.

I'll take the pictures. You go and enjoy the party you spent a small fortune on.

Here's the thing about a wedding: it happens once, and it happens fast.

The speeches, the first dance, your uncle's questionable dance moves later on

blink and you'll have missed half of it, because you were too busy actually living it.

That's where I come in. Instead of pulling you away for an hour of posed shots while your guests wonder where you've got to,

I stay out of the way and let the day happen. You celebrate, I handle the documenting

that's genuinely as complicated as it gets. No standing in a line waiting for your turn with the camera. No "big smile, hold it, hold it."

Just you, your people, and everything that actually happens when nobody's being told where to stand.

Cakes get eaten. Flowers wilt by Tuesday. The photos are what's left — so they're worth getting right.
